If none of the other experiences are calling loudly for your Day Retreat, then treat yourself to a sauna experience! Fabricated from local White Cedar, cut to rough lumber at an Amish sawmill down the road, and then crafted in nearby Dundalk, the sauna offers a peaceful experience for body, mind and soul to be enveloped by warmth and cradled by the round shape.
Regular sauna use has many documented beneficial effects including: it can flush toxins, induce deeper sleep, sooth sore muscles, cleanse the skin, relieve stress, and more!
There is a cold shower, as well as splash bucket, for rinsing. In winter the shower is not functional so pails of water and scoops are provided for the cool-off, or if you’re brave try rolling in the snow like the Finns do! In winter, wool blanket curtains are hung in front of the sauna porch to form a cozy buffer between the inner and outer worlds.
Preparation
Bring a bathing suit if you wish, though there are shower curtains for privacy if you want to enjoy it the traditional way and not feel restricted by any clothing. Bring bath robe or loose clothing to wear between yurt and sauna. Towels are provided.
